BE A PART OF THE SOLUTION

COFFEE IS BOTH PROBLEM & SOLUTION

Over the years of fieldwork trying to find whether coffee is sustainable, our founder, Praveen Ponraj, discovered that coffee is a superpower which can either create a climate crisis or solve it. He listed all social and environmental injustices currently happening in the Global Coffee Value Chain and strategized solutions for each one of them. We call those solutions as Climate Wave Coffee Solutions, an effective climate action framework to solve climate crisis by harnessing the superpower of coffee.

THE AUTHOR'SNOTE

Praveen-Photo.png

My love for nature and coffee compelled me to delve deep into the social and environmental sustainability aspects of the influential Global Coffee Industry. This journey led me to author an efficient climate action framework that has the potential to solve the climate crisis if we, as coffee enthusiasts, work together. I am eager to share the thought process behind creating this framework, hoping that professionals from various industries worldwide will develop their own climate action frameworks to combat the climate crisis. Let's join forces to reverse global warming.

IMPLEMENTING CLIMATE WAVE COFFEE SOLUTIONS THROUGH

INTEGRATED PROGRAMS

COFFEE INSTITUTE FOR CLIMATE ACTION

Coffee Institute for Climate Action is a program that implements Climate Wave Coffee Solutions, a climate-action framework that identifies and offers practical solutions to social and environmental injustices occurring in the global coffee value chain. The program offers professional coffee skills training, develops business case for sustainability, crafts sustainability strategies for coffee professionals, and conducts sustainable coffee research.

CLIMATE-POSITIVE CAFE COLLECTIVE

Climate-Positive Cafe Collective is the flagship program of Climate Wave Coffee. It aims to support coffee shops in British Columbia that serve climate-positive coffee by helping them reach a larger customer base, increase sales, and foster long-term relationships with their team members, customers, and suppliers.

TIP COFFEE FARMER

Tip the Coffee Farmer is the main program that will enable Climate Wave Coffee to achieve its vision of transforming monoculture coffee farms into biodiversity-rich coffee forests. The program collects donations from coffee enthusiasts around the world to hire coffee farmers who specialize in natural farming practices. These farmers then assist monoculture farmers in transforming their land into coffee forests that capture and store carbon, create ecological balance, and reverse global warming.

CERTIFIED CLIMATE WAVE COFFEE

Certified Climate Wave Coffee Program identifies coffees, around the world, that fit all the Climate Wave Basic solutions. In short, Certified Climate Wave Coffees are shade-grown, fairly traded, preserve water, and protect biodiversity. Because of which they are climate-positive coffees as well, and they help coffee forests capture 300g of greenhouse gases from the environment.

SUSTAINABLE COFFEE PASSPORT

Sustainable Coffee Passport is a web application that allows coffee enthusiasts to find standardized, easy-to-understand transparency details of different coffees, track emissions capture, share personal tasting notes of any coffee with fellow coffee enthusiasts worldwide and support coffee roasters' passion for the art of coffee crafting by purchasing their beans for home brewing.

COFFEE PEOPLE CONNECT

Coffee People Connect is a series of interactive coffee events focused on climate action, hosted by various coffee professionals in British Columbia. The events aim to share knowledge about the art of sustainable coffee-making, inspire climate action, and foster connections among coffee people.
