ABOUT THE FARM

Finca V&G (Vargas and Gutierrez) in San Juanillo is the shared vision of agronomist Tomás Gutierrez and industrial engineer Allan Vargas, two passionate innovators dedicated to cultivating exceptional specialty coffee in Costa Rica’s renowned West Valley. Over a decade ago, they set out to transform their farm into a model of modern sustainability. Today, Finca V&G stands as a testament to that mission—fully renovated, thriving with carefully selected varieties, and serving as an inspiration to small producers facing the challenges of climate change. The farm’s landscape, lush with shade trees and green cover crops, offers visitors a strikingly different view of what a forward-thinking coffee farm can be, blending cutting-edge techniques with a commitment to the environment.

We gratefully acknowledge that we currently live, play, and work on the unceded traditional territory of the Lekwungen-speaking peoples, known as the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations. We honour and respect the rich history, cultural heritage, and ongoing contributions of the indigenous communities who have stewarded this land for generations. We are committed to learning, listening, and standing in solidarity with these Nations as we continue our operations on this sacred land. We also equally express our gratitude for the indigenous peoples around the world, especially those who protect the tropical forests of the coffee-growing regions.
